Hasbian

Queer Diary CIC is a Community Interest Company, led by Beth Watson & Josephine Shipp.

We create performances, events & creative workshops for LGBTQIA+ people to explore & share their coming-of-age experiences. The first Queer Diary reading nights happened monthly throughout 2020 as part of the QAFSpace zoom events programme.

The idea for Queer Diary was born from a desire to connect with queer community during lockdown, and memories of the Dear Diary reading nights, where Beth had fun sharing teenage diary extracts on stage in 2018-19.

The first work-in-progress performance of Hasbian was produced at Camden People's Theatre in 2022 and after some R&D, in 2024 a full production of Hasbian ran for a week at Omnibus Theatre.

I was brought in to make the trailer for the show and after conversations with Beth we decided we wanted to go for a 90s kids TV show vibe. Think Clarissa Explains It All, Saved by the Bell and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. All the animations were done in-house, with most of them hand-drawn.

Just like the show, this one was a lot of fun.
